SentinelGrid started because a lot of software makes simple jobs harder. We try to build the kind that makes them easier.
Simple by default
Good software stays out of the way while you get the job done. We don't add features just because we can: if a new one makes the product more confusing, it doesn't ship.
Fast is a feature
People notice speed even when they don't mention it, and a slow app feels broken however good it looks. We treat load time and responsiveness as requirements from the first build.
Built to last
Small tools still need a solid foundation: readable code and predictable behavior. We build things to still work correctly two years from now.
Small team, a name on every part
We stay small on purpose. Everyone working on a SentinelGrid project can be reached directly and is responsible for their part of it, so a question goes to the person who did the work instead of into a support queue.
Born out of frustration
The tools we kept finding were either built for enterprises or too bare-bones to trust with day-to-day work.
SentinelGrid started as small private apps, each written to do one job. Over time some of them got polished enough to share.
It has grown since. SentinelGrid works with independent contractors: developers, designers, and researchers who help build and support the apps we ship. Everyone involved still owns their piece of the work end to end.
